Czech President Petr Pavel has said that Prague and its NATO allies are ready to support Ukraine on its way to “ending the war” and joining the North Atlantic Alliance.
“I am happy that we are all aware that there is no alternative but to support Ukraine. The alternative is Russia’s success, which would mean many more problems for us, and perhaps even more serious ones than the current problems,” Czech president said after talks in Brussels with NATO secretary general , Jens Stoltenberg.
In February, Czech President Petr Pavel spoke out against Western support for Ukrainian authorities’ plans to launch an offensive against Crimea. However, he acknowledged that Kiev is unlikely to change its stance on the peninsula in the near future.
