Al-Duhail team regained the top spot in the Qatar Football League / QNB Stars League / after surpassing Al-Rayyan by four goals to three in the meeting that brought them together today at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in the postponed match from the fifteenth round that took place in late February, due to the two teams being linked at the time to play The knockout stages of the AFC Champions League.

Al-Duhail raised its score to 45 points, regaining the first place it lost in the last nineteenth round, with a difference of two points against Al-Arabi II, while Al-Rayyan’s balance froze at point 17 with a postponed match against Qatar Club, retaining its ninth position.

Khaled Mohamed scored in the 37th minute, Tunisian Ferjani Sassi scored in the 45 + 3 minute, Kenyan Michael Olonga scored in the 76th minute, Al Moez Ali scored in the 82nd minute, and Yohan Boli scored for Ivory Coast in the 25th minute, and Moroccan Sofiane Boufal in the 80th and 90th + 4 minutes.

The two teams went into the attack early, and Al Rayyan almost scored through Chilean Jason Vargas after less than three minutes when Moroccan Sofiane Boufal’s pass reached him inside the area, but he shot over the crossbar, so the response came quickly from Al Duhail through Tunisian Ferjani Sassi’s shot that passed next to the post in the 5th minute.

Al-Rayyan retreated, leaving the possession to Al-Duhail, without giving up the attack through counterattacks that posed a danger from time to time, before it yielded the first goal when Osama Al-Tiri led a quick lightning attack and passed the ball towards Sufyan Boufal, who in turn turned it to Ivory Coast’s Johan Boley in front of the goal, he did not find much. He struggled to deposit the net, scoring the first goal for Al Rayyan in the 25th minute.

Al-Duhail showed a strong reaction to the delay and exerted great pressure on Al-Rayyan’s goal, and Al-Moez Ali was close to scoring when he penetrated and hit a powerful ball over the crossbar in the 30th minute, before Khaled Mohammed equalized the score when he took advantage of Ferjani Sassi’s cross and turned it into the net of goalkeeper Evanildo Rodriguez in the 37th minute. .

Al-Duhail continued his control, and Khaled Mohamed was close to adding a second goal when he confronted the goalkeeper, but his ball passed along the 43rd post before Ferjani Sassi snatched the goal of progress in stoppage time when he took advantage of Al-Moez Ali’s cross and headed the ball into the net in the 45 + 3 minute, to end the first half on Al-Duhail advanced with two goals to one. Al Rayyan started the second half in a different way, showing early offensive audacity, so that Sofiane Boufal wasted the opportunity to amend when he faced the goal, but goalkeeper Salah Zakaria saved the situation in the 48th minute, before Jason Vargas’ shot passed over the crossbar in the 53rd minute.

Al-Duhail dealt with his opponent’s attack in an ideal way, so he closed the defensive areas tightly and relied on attacking transformations that almost resulted in a third goal when Al-Moez Ali scored the goal alone, but he hit the ball over the crossbar in the 64th minute, while Kenyan Michael Olonga slowed down meters from the goal, so the defense intervened. He saved the situation in the 70th minute, before Al-Duhail won a penalty kick after Bassam Al-Rawi blocked Mohamed Jumaa, which was successfully implemented by Kenyan Michael Olonga, scoring the third goal in the 76th minute.

Al-Rayyan had nothing to lose for the rest of the time, to exert great pressure that resulted in reducing the difference through Sofiane Boufal, who penetrated into the area and fired a powerful shot that hit the net in the 80th minute, however, Al-Moez Ali responded quickly through an individual effort, bypassing more than one defender and facing the goalkeeper. He put the ball into the net, scoring the fourth goal in the 82nd minute.

In stoppage time, Sofiane Boufal narrowed the gap for Al Rayyan after he scored the third goal, taking advantage of Yohan Boli’s pass in the 90 + 4 minute, but he did not spare his team the loss, so Al Duhail emerged victorious, giving the three points back to the top of the league.
