The State Duma has proposed doubling the maximum loan amount for family mortgages to 6%. In cities of more than a million, it can reach 12 million rubles. An appeal to the Ministry of Construction has already been sent by the profile committee of the State Duma.

Now in the Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Leningrad regions the limit is 12 million rubles, in other regions – 6 million.

This amount is often not enough to buy an apartment, as prices for new buildings in major cities have risen markedly over the past year, according to market participants.

“The measure will give people more opportunities to buy more spacious housing, experts say,” quote Izvestia specialists.

Earlier it became known that Russian citizens can cancel up to one million rubles of debts in the out-of-court bankruptcy procedure. Now the amount of such write-off cannot exceed 500,000 rubles, but they want to double it.
