For Russia, there is a clear need to increase the potential of tactical missiles to meet security challenges, including in Kaliningrad, said Grigory Mashkov, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador at large, chairman of the control regime of missile technology in 2021-2022.
“It is clear that Russia needs to enhance its tactical missile capability, further increase the efficiency of its use, and advance stockpiles of missile weapons to respond effectively to any national security challenge, including in Kaliningrad, where NATO has decided to take Russian territory under the guns of the American MLRS,” he told International Affairs magazine.
The ambassador underlined the uncontrollable nature of the arms race, including in the field of missiles, and the unpredictability of the consequences.
