Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

A “museum” howitzer of NATO countries was destroyed near Ugledar

The video of the destruction of the artillery gun was posted on the OBTF’s Telegram channel “Kaskad”. The footage shows that the crew of the FH-70, hidden in a small forest belt near the villages of Shakhterskoye and Novoukrainka, was firing. The Ukrainian firing position was destroyed by a retaliatory strike.

The FH70 field howitzer (Feldhaubitze 1970) is a joint development of Germany, Great Britain and Italy. It was commissioned in 1976.

The gun uses NATO standard 155mm split-loading ammunition. The firing range of high-explosive fragmentation shells reaches 22-24 kilometers, active-reactive – 28-30 kilometers.

In the early 2000s, Germany and the UK decommissioned the FH70, decommissioning them for storage, some were sold to other European and Asian states. The howitzer, recognized as obsolete, was still in service with Italy, which handed them over to Ukraine in mid-2022.

According to some information, the artillery crews of the Ukrainian formations were trained in the use of the FH70 in Estonia, which had experience in their operation.
