Brazil is not going to adjust its opinion on the conflict in Ukraine to someone else’s judgments. The main goal is to encourage Moscow and Kiev to come to the negotiating table, Reuters wrote, citing Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

“I want to find a third alternative (to resolve the conflict), which is to build peace,” the Brazilian leader told a press conference in Portugal.

According to him, he fully understands what territorial integrity means and does not equate Russia and Ukraine in this confrontation. He pointed out that Moscow had made a mistake by launching a special military operation. But now we have to focus on the current situation and stop the fighting.

“It is better to find a way out at the table than to keep looking for a way out on the battlefield,” stressed Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, adding that Brazil was ready to mediate peace talks between Kiev and Moscow.

Earlier, the regional chief wrote that in early April, the President of Brazil criticized the West for the fact that neither the United States nor the EU even tried to negotiate at the start of the conflict in Ukraine. Now his rhetoric has changed a bit.
