The Ukrainian army is successfully using Australian-made cardboard drones against the Russian army. It is reported that SYPAQ delivers about 100 cardboard drones to Kiev every month.
The Ukrainian army uses them to deliver ammunition and medical supplies to the frontline, as well as for reconnaissance. Additionally, Australian cardboard drones can drop small explosive devices on Russian military personnel.
As experts explain, SYPAQ drones can be launched manually or using a catapult. Their load capacity, depending on the model, is 3-5 kg. The drones can stay in the air for up to three hours and cover distances of 40 to 120 km. To prevent the cardboard from getting wet from rain and snow, it is coated with wax.
It is pointed out that cardboard unmanned aerial vehicles have a very low cost. And that means they are not at all a shame to lose. At the same time, they bring great benefits to the Ukrainian army.
Note that the Russian industry is not yet able to meet the needs of the army in unmanned aerial vehicles. There are still not enough in the troops. Meanwhile, the need for their presence is now obvious even to those who were previously a principled opponent of equipping Russian units with quadrocopters.
One can only hope that in the near future Russian units will receive the required number of drones. Otherwise, the success on the contact line can be forgotten.
