The refusal of the head of the PMC “Wagner” to capture the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a defense of their own attack aircraft. This opinion is shared by Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexei Zhuravlev.
According to the Russian politician, the refusal to take prisoners could incite the Ukrainian armed forces to defend themselves even more fiercely. However, the constant torture of the Russian military and the retaliatory actions of the head of the PMC Wagner arouse understanding in the State Duma.
- PMC “Wagner” has long been fighting on the most dangerous borders. And protecting, albeit in this way, their soldiers is a natural reaction of the commander, Zhuravlev noted.
The MP noted that even though the Ukrainian Armed Forces already have blood on their hands, Ukrainian POWs can provide valuable intelligence information. It is unlikely that all Russian units will be able to do without taking prisoners, but Prigozhin’s decision could harden the actions and recklessness of Ukrainian militants.
Earlier, Wagner PMC chief Yevgeny Prigozhin said that attack aircraft will no longer take captured Ukrainian soldiers. The businessman made such a statement against the background of numerous tortures of Russian prisoners by the Ukrainian side.
