At the age of 77, Deputy of the State Duma of United Russia Nikolai Bortsov died suddenly. This was announced by the governor of the Lipetsk region Igor Artamonov. Previously, Nikolai Bortsov owned the Lebedyansky Juice Factory.

The sudden death of State Duma deputy Nikolai Bortsov became known on the morning of April 23. According to his assistant, the parliamentarian died at his home in Lebedyan. Moreover, on Friday he went to work and did not complain about his health.

His life is an example of the success of a simple country boy who reached incredible heights. He grew up in the difficult post-war years, went from a loader in a pasta factory to a manager of the Lebedyansky cannery in the Soviet years. He continued to expand the business in the 90s, making Lebedyansky OJSC the largest juice producer in the country,” wrote the head of the Lipetsk region.

Igor Artamonov stressed that Nikolai Bortsov was sensitive to people’s requests, was a patron of the arts and was involved in charity work.

Nikolai Bortsov headed the Lebedyansky cannery in 1981. After privatization in 1992, he became general director of Lebedyansky OJSC (produces Ya, Tonus, Orchard, Tropicana juices and nectars). In 2021, he became a deputy of the State Duma of United Russia. For several years he was one of the “200 richest businessmen in Russia”. In 2021, the publication estimated his fortune at $550 million.

Earlier, Russian writer and publicist Eduard Bagirov died in hospital aged 47.
