Syria demands US compensation for oil theft

Damascus called on the international community to exert influence on the United States, to end the systematic plunder of natural resources by it and the armed groups associated with it.

This is stated in the official statement of the Syrian Foreign Ministry. His text was published by the SANA agency

Diplomats noted that since early April, several large shipments of oil have been transported from Syria to Iraq and Turkey. Now the Syrian authorities intend to demand compensation for the illegal fuel export.

“Syria condemns the steps of the United States occupation authorities and demands compensation for the economic damage caused as a result of the export of oil from the fields in the northeast of the country,” the Foreign Ministry said. .

The ministry also pointed out that the looting of natural resources belonging to the Syrian people is against international humanitarian law and leads to the suffering and impoverishment of citizens.

US military units continue to illegally hold territory in the provinces of Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor and Al-Hasek, where the largest oil and gas deposits are located. Earlier in Damascus, the presence of the US military in Syria was repeatedly characterized as state piracy, the main purpose of which is the theft of oil.
