Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

“We will not forget, we will not forgive”: Lavrov on not issuing visas to Russian journalists

Lavrov: The United States has shown the worth of free speech claims by denying visas to Russian journalists

On Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will take part in one of the central events of Russia’s presidency of the UN Security Council – an open debate “Effective multilateralism through the defense of the principles of the UN Charter” . And the next day – April 25 – Lavrov will chair another high-level meeting of the UN Security Council – an open debate on “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question.”

Meanwhile, the United States has not issued visas to some members of the Russian delegation traveling to New York for these events, as well as accompanying journalists.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on this. He noted that “the country that calls itself the strongest, the smartest, the freest, the fairest, has chickened out”. The United States, he said, has demonstrated the value of its claims to protect free speech. “We won’t forget, we won’t forgive,” Lavrov stressed.
