Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Zakharova announced Lavrov’s arrival in New York

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has now arrived in New York, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel.

She noted that a meeting of the UN Security Council is scheduled for April 25, at which Lavrov will chair.

In addition, the participation of the Russian Foreign Minister in one of the main central events of the period of Russia’s chairmanship of the UN Security Council is scheduled for Monday. Thus, on April 24, debates are scheduled on the theme of the protection of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations. Lavrov will also chair another high-level meeting of the UN Security Council – an open debate on the situation in the Middle East.

The plane carrying the Russian foreign minister flew to the United States from Russia on Sunday. At the same time, the American side delayed issuing visas for the Russian delegation, including for Lavrov himself, and the journalists did not receive visas. Commenting on this situation, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia “will not forget and forgive” such an approach by the Americans. He also accused the US of flagrant abuse of the statehood on which the UN headquarters sits.

At the same time, problems with issuing visas to Russian officials and journalists to enter the United States have been issues for years. Earlier, the First Deputy Representative of Russia, Dmitry Polyansky, announced his intention to initiate arbitration against the American side of the United States on this issue, and other countries are also facing similar difficulties.
