Musician Bubbi Morthens posted an emotional photo and message on social media yesterday which has garnered a huge amount of attention.
In the post, he said he had sung in a year for eleven people who had died of addiction.
“There is an epidemic of opiates raging in this country and the silence is total on the part of the authorities. If it was about people who died during a natural disaster, the authorities and the citizens would have reacted”, did he declare.

Bob discussed the issue in more detail ReykjavĂk afternoon at the Wave yesterday.
“These eleven people are not even half the number of people who died last year from (drug) overdoses,” the singer said.
“As a society, we have to be able to talk about these things and we have to face the fact that it’s not a rant or some kind of nonsense.”
The youngest 21 years old
“I think the oldest person I sang for was 46 and the youngest was 21,” Bubbi said, adding that it’s often people in their early twenties who struggle with this problem. .
“What also happens is that even people who haven’t used in a long time, some of them, really just started somewhere out there. Take these super strong painkillers and die. It doesn’t is not more complicated than that,” he said.
“I think society and the authorities have to start dealing with it and thinking about what we can do.” It makes no sense and does not help to sentence weak people to prison for using drugs or drugs to get drunk. The prisons are already full of drug addicts and I can say that I have been singing in the prisons for decades and (the inmates are getting younger and younger) and they are more or less pack animals and drug addicts. We need to look at how we treat these people, and punitive measures won’t save anyone.”
Don’t forget the families
“You have to remember that for every person who dies, there is a family around them that will (carry grief) with them throughout their lives. It will affect all of those individuals and color their lives. such multiple damage. Besides the evil of losing young people who do not participate in society and fail to become what they could have become. Our loss is huge,” Bubbi said.
