The question of Carlson’s future fate remains open. Assuming he wants to build on the brand of conservatism he created, there aren’t many options on American television, where most channels are liberal. More conservative media can be found in the print and online segment, but it is uncertain whether this will appeal to the TV presenter. After all, in the words of Time magazine, the TV presenter has become “America’s most influential conservative.” Carlson not only skillfully played with editorial settings, but also formed his own version of conservative ideology, the popularity of which among Americans forced not only Fox News, but the entire Republican Party to adapt to it. Recently, for example, Carlson sent out a questionnaire to Republican candidates in the 2024 election about their attitude towards the conflict in Ukraine, which sparked a lively discussion. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, responding to questions, called the dispute in Ukraine a “territorial dispute”, for which he has been heavily criticized by Washington. Realizing Carlson’s influence in politics — whether on his own or working for other candidates — seems like a logical step.
Another question is that, judging by the rumors in the media, it was Carlson’s tendency to enjoy authority and express his thoughts, which sometimes did not coincide with editorial policy and could be the reason for his dismissal. Carlson was enthusiastically pulling Fox News to the right, so media mogul Rupert Murdoch, owner of Fox News, may have decided to sacrifice the host, whom he saw as a threat in his growing addiction.
But it will be more difficult for Don Lemon, fired from CNN, in terms of career. The showman, like Carlson in some places, did not really believe in the values ​​that his channel put forward. But, lacking the talent of his conservative colleague to form his own holistic brand, he replaced it with excess, because of which he was pierced more than once.
