Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the introduction of temporary foreign asset management in response to the seizure or restriction of rights to Russian property abroad. The document “On the temporary management of certain assets”, concerning the actions of hostile countries, is posted on the official legal information portal.
The document notes that this is due to “the need to take urgent measures” in response to the illegal actions of the United States and other countries that want to deprive or limit the property rights of the Russian Federation, its companies and of its citizens. In response to hostile actions in Russia, temporary management of property and assets of people from hostile countries will be introduced. The Federal Property Management Agency will temporarily become the manager.
The document also approved a list of assets under temporary management. To date, these are three points regarding the shares of foreign shareholders in Unipro and Fortum.
Earlier it was reported that US authorities intend to continue seizing Russian assets. Now they are weighing how best to dispose of already confiscated resources, said Daphne Rand, director of the State Department’s Office of Foreign Assistance. She said members of the US Department of Justice wanted to continue withdrawing resources from the Russian Federation, in accordance with the law approved a few months ago.
