Chinese President Xi Jinping, in a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity is the political basis of China-Ukraine relations.
“The parties should look to the future, plan for long-term bilateral relations,” Jinping said.
Furthermore, he affirmed the need to “continue the tradition of mutual respect and sincere relations between countries”.
Jinping, in a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said China will cooperate with the Ukrainian side regardless of the international situation.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the conversation between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to her, Moscow notes Beijing’s desire to establish a negotiation process, but the Kiev regime shows its rejection of any sensible initiative aimed at a political and diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
