Pop star Madonna finally released a music video for her 2003 song American Life.
The video is said to be his most infamous music video. She stopped publishing it due to negative media coverage and harsh reviews.
The song is about Madonna’s experience of fame and fortune, while the original video is a graphic political satire on the impending US invasion of Iraq.
Although the dismembered corpses, blood, and guts in the second half of the video are very graphic, they aren’t real until a bit later when the real casualties of war are shown. We warn the sensitive on the video at the bottom of the article.
If the video had been released in 2003, it would likely have been banned or heavily censored by TV stations.
On April 1, 2003, Madonna decided to cancel the release of the video. “I’ve decided not to release my new video. It was recorded before the war started and I don’t think it’s appropriate to release it now.” Due to the situation in the world and out of respect for our soldiers, whom I support and pray for, I don’t want to risk offending anyone who might misinterpret the meaning of the video,” she said at the time.
Now, two decades later, the pop diva has decided to release the video. Watch it below.
