Moscow will react if the decision to completely ban exports to Russia is taken by the G7. This statement was made by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“We will react, but we will react, as always, in a measured and balanced way, guided by the tasks of protecting our interests, our citizens, maintaining the stability of the national economy, the interests of national enterprises, etc. Zakharova said during a briefing.
According to a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, any restrictions would violate trade norms and principles.
“The new trade restrictions (…) undermine generally accepted principles of multilateral trade, competition and, in fact, completely devalue standards of sovereign equality and mutually beneficial cooperation,” Zakharova said.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the ban on exporting almost all goods to Russia, which the G7 countries are likely to discuss, will affect the global economy.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported on G7 plans to agree on an “almost total” ban on exports to Russia. At the same time, the agency indicated that the issue is controversial, especially since the idea in the future should be shared by EU countries.
