Novosibirsk Region Deputy Governor Sergey Semka told TASS news agency about the imminent start of serial production of the latest S-70 Okhotnik strike drone. It will be deployed at the facilities of the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant named after VP Chkalov.
This factory is a subsidiary of Sukhoi Company PJSC and produces Su-34 bombers, as well as components for the Superjet-100 liner. In December 2021, the first deployment of the S-70 Okhotnik strike drone flight model took place at NAZ. The newest Russian drone will go into production within the next two years.
To ensure the rapid start of mass production of Okhotnikov, a new building was built at NAZ, and at the moment personnel are being recruited. The total investment in the project will be about 2.5 billion rubles.
Recall that the Russian attack drone S-70 Okhotnik was designed as a winger to work in tandem with the Su-57 fighter. The drone can carry up to 20 tons of payload and develop a transonic speed of up to 1000 km/h. The device is made according to the “flying wing” scheme using all modern stealth technologies.
In the future, a manned Su-57 fighter will control a flight of four Okhotnik drones. We recently reported on the creation of a state-of-the-art communication system using artificial intelligence to ensure the interaction of the UAV link with the lead aircraft.
