In the context of implementing its strategic plans to meet challenges and adopt alternatives to the systems and products covered by US sanctions, Huawei announced that it has replaced the old legendary ERP system for planning and managing enterprise information technology and resources with a fully self-designed and controlled MetaERP system. Yesterday, the company celebrated the new system work team and honored the people who contributed to the implementation of the project, which is considered one of the most important self-resources. The ERP system for enterprise resource planning is the most important system that relies on information and communication technology for enterprise management, as Huawei launched the MRP system for manufacturing resource planning, the second version in 1996, and later developed it into the ERP system through several updates. The company relied on the old ERP system to support the company’s operations and its rapid development for more than 20 years, and the system contributed to enhancing its business and the efficiency of its operations and achieving profits of hundreds of billions of dollars annually in more than 170 countries and regions all over the world. With the beginning of 2019, Huawei faced increasing external pressures and a number of challenges related to the systems and products covered by US sanctions, and the company decided to develop a fully autonomous Meta-ERP system to rely on instead of the old ERP system. This project was the largest comprehensive transformation carried out by Huawei in its history, as the company invested significant resources and allocated thousands of people to implement the project over the past three years. The company also collaborated with technology and ecosystem partners to overcome project challenges. A modern and comprehensive Meta-ERP system that meets future needs and is based on cloud computing was launched to replace the old system. Huawei relies on the Meta ERP system to fully implement business scenarios and 80% of its business volume. The system passed the monthly, quarterly and annual tests without any errors, delays or adjustments in accounting. Huawei comprehensively and completely controls the Meta ERP system, which is designed using Huawei’s own systems. The company cooperated with a group of its partners to achieve integration between the system and modern technologies such as cloud computing, multi-tenant design that relies on data and real-time intelligence, which contributed to significantly improving service efficiency and operational quality. Huawei’s approach focuses on providing seamless design with the best possible quality to provide the best possible experience. Huawei will continue to work with partners to design business core systems that are efficient and secure without any restrictions. Tao Jingwen, Huawei Board Member and Head of Quality, Business Operations and Information Technology, said: "By migrating to the Meta ERP system, we proved that we could not only design it, but manage the transformation and prove the capabilities of the system. We are happy to report that we have overcome this challenge and can continue to move forward"
