Erdogan, who was infected with an intestinal virus, spoke for four days via video link, raising questions about his health two weeks before the May 14 presidential elections.
The Turkish president began a visit to the Technofest Air Show at Istanbul’s former Atatürk Airport, an exhibition that Turkey describes as the “biggest in the world” and which allows the Turkish military industry to display its drones and his planes.
According to the official program, Erdogan is expected to attend an election rally later Saturday in Izmir, western Turkey.
He is also expected to travel to the capital, Ankara, on Sunday, exactly two weeks before the first round of voting, to resume his election campaign after it was cut short by four days this week due to health concerns.
