Bhopal. Earlier in Madhya Pradesh (Madhya Pradesh), the irrigated area used to be 7 lakh hectares, which has now increased to 45 lakh hectares (4.5 million hectares). The target of the state government is that by 2025, Irrigation area should be increased to 65 lakh hectare. For this, work is being done on new irrigation projects at a fast pace.
State’s Water Resources and Fishermen’s Welfare Minister Tulsiram Silavat said this on Saturday while talking to the fishermen brothers after laying the foundation stone of the community building to be built at Rampura in Neemuch district. Public representatives including MP Sudhir Gupta, MLAs Anirudh Maru and Devi Lal Dhakad were present on the occasion.
Minister Silavat said that Balaghat district ranks first in the country in fish production. In order to promote fish production in Gandhi Sagar reservoir, seeds of demand and quality Katla, Rau, species fish will also be sown. He said that Rs 12,000 being provided to fishermen for boats would be increased to Rs 15,000.
He said that the proposal demanding increase in the wages of fishermen for fishing would be placed in the meeting of the Fisheries Federation. He also talked about sympathetically considering the various demands of the fishermen.
Silavat said that strict action will be taken against the culprits by conducting an inquiry against the officers of Fisheries Federation Gandhi Sagar Rampura who committed irregularities. Water Resources Minister announced the inclusion of 10 gram panchayats of Manasa region left out in the irrigation scheme from Gandhi Sagar to Manasa region and Neemuch district.
He said that for this the survey work would also be started soon and the left out villages would also be included in the scheme of irrigation from Gandhi Sagar. Minister Silavat along with MP and MLA inspected Fish Collection Center of Fisheries Federation in Rampura and also gave necessary instructions to concerned officials.
