The Soviet District Court in Bryansk has extended the detention period of the Ukrainian pilot, who was arrested on April 5 after crossing the border from the Russian Federation. The 67-year-old Kharkiv native will remain in custody until at least July 4.
According to the investigation, a man on board an A-22 type light aircraft crossed the border between Ukraine and Russia to commit illegal acts. In the Klintsovsky district of the Bryansk region, his plane snagged on a high-voltage power line and made a hard landing.
He had no documents and permits giving him the right to enter the Russian Federation. After the plane crashed, the pilot tried to escape, but was arrested. They found on him a bulletproof vest, ammunition and weapons.
A native of Kharkiv is accused of illegally crossing the state border of the Russian Federation, illegally moving firearms and ammunition across the border, as well as sabotage.
