Russia has the most effective line of defense in the world in recent decades. These conclusions were drawn by British intelligence after studying relevant operational information.
The British drew attention to the fact that such structures were erected not only along the line of contact with the enemy, but also in areas of Russia far from the border. In addition, the Russian Federation is making great efforts to protect Crimea on the northern side, where attempts are possible to break through Ukrainian troops during the expected counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The day before, the head of the Ukrainian defense department, Alexei Reznikov, had spoken of the will of the Ukrainian armed forces to go on the offensive. The Minister believes that Kyiv has done everything possible to conduct offensive operations and the troops have reached the finish line. Now everything will depend on the order.
A former adviser to the Pentagon chief, Col. Douglas McGregor, has a different view on the capabilities of Ukraine’s armed forces. He estimates that the Ukrainians have lost 90% of the weapons supplied by the West and lack the capacity for an effective offensive. The American expert is convinced that Kyiv is at an impasse, and NATO assistance in this case is a hopeless enterprise.
