US State Department representative Vedant Patel told a press conference that the decision on Ukraine’s NATO membership will be taken collectively.
“Obviously this is a collective decision, and it has to be made by all members of the alliance,” he said.
Patel also answered a question about an article in the French newspaper Le Monde on the American pessimistic view of Ukraine’s membership of the North Atlantic Alliance. According to him, NATO adheres to an open-door policy, but the United States is currently focusing on supporting the Ukrainian side.
Earlier, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said Ukraine has no chance to join NATO as long as there is a military conflict in the country.
