The Kremlin said the attack on Moscow was Kyiv’s “response” to recent Russian strikes in Ukraine.

Russia has accused Ukraine of committing a “terrorist” act after an infrequent drone attack targeting Moscow and its region, pointing out that it intercepted all eight drones used.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement: “This morning the Kiev regime launched a terrorist attack with drones on sites in Moscow”, adding: “8 marches took part in the attack”, and all were shot, he confirmed.

And he continued, “3 aircraft were repelled by means of electronic warfare, lost control and deviated from their targets. The Pantsir-S surface-to-air missile system shot down 5 drones in the Moscow region.”

Ukraine’s response to the “Moscow attack”

For his part, an adviser to the Ukrainian presidency denied Kiev’s direct involvement in the drone attack on Moscow, but said his country was happy to follow the case and expected an increase in such attacks.

“Regarding the attacks: of course we are happy to see them and we expect an increase in the number of attacks. But of course we have no direct involvement in the case,” Mykhailo said. Podolyak, adviser to Ukrainian President Mykhailo Podolyak. Breakfast show on YouTube.

What happened in Moscow? The Russian capital and its region were attacked at dawn on Tuesday, with rallies that caused “light” damage to buildings, without causing any casualties, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. Sobyanin wrote via Telegram: “This morning at dawn an attack by marches caused minor damage to several buildings. All the city’s emergency services were deployed to the scene (…) and no injuries serious has been recorded.” Moscow and its region, located more than a thousand kilometers from Ukraine, have so far been the target of very few marching attacks since the beginning of the conflict, while such attacks have multiplied in other Russian regions. Images posted on social media showed traces of smoke in the air. Another showed a broken window in an apartment building. The attack comes after another attack by Russian rallies in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, at least one person was killed, according to the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko. In early May, two marches on the Kremlin brought down the center of power in Moscow in an attack attributed to Kyiv.
