In Karnataka, with barely 10-11 days left for the campaign, the arrows and arrogance of the propaganda is at its peak. BJP has given full strength. PM Modi, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, many other central ministers and big leaders have given their full strength in the campaign. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge and HD Deve Gowda from JDS are giving edge to the propaganda. Words like poisonous snakes and poison girl are also being covered, besides other issues. According to the latest survey of ABP-C Voter, Congress has emerged as the number one PATA in Karnataka. According to him, Congress is getting 40 percent vote share and according to the seats, it can get between 107-119 seats. On the other hand, BJP’s vote share is 35 percent and it can get 74-86 seats.

JDS can take 17 percent vote share and 23-25 seats on number three. The challenges before the BJP and the Congress are completely different. Any mistake by either of the two parties can become a game of snakes and ladders for them. The Janata Dal (Secular), the third contender for the election, is waiting for the faltering of either the BJP or the Congress so that it can become, if not the king, the king maker. The fulfillment of JDS’s wishes depends on the way the main contenders of state politics ie Congress and BJP face their challenges. If the BJP or its MLAs are facing charges of anti-incumbency and corruption, then the Congress is treading on a ground that is not entirely safe. The number of contentious issues that were before the state a few weeks back are not as many. For example, the revised reservation policy has now been put on the backburner as the Supreme Court has expressed displeasure over it.

However, Union Minister Amit Shah has justified the removal of reservation for Muslims at many places and has given fodder to the Congress to create controversy. Amit Shah also said in a public meeting that if the Congress government is elected in Karnataka, there will be communal riots in the state. However, political analysts believe that communal issues have reached such a peak in Karnataka. Apart from Shah, the sudden change in the narrative of other leaders is significant. This shows that all the three parties in the state are working very carefully. The polling on May 10 will decide who will rule Karnataka for the next five years.
