The European Union intends to allocate 500 million euros to develop ammunition production in the countries of the Old World, the corresponding bill will be proposed on Wednesday 3 May. This statement was made by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

“The European Commission will propose legislation at its meeting tomorrow to support ammunition production in Europe. This law will contribute to the expansion and acceleration of ammunition production in Europe,” the EC chief said in a statement posted on the European Commission’s website.

Von der Leyen added that it is now necessary to increase the production of shellfish for Kiev’s needs.

Today it became known that already this Wednesday Washington may announce a new package of military assistance to Kyiv. They want to transfer to Ukraine trucks, mortar and artillery ammunition, heavy equipment and Hydra-70 missiles, which are used to arm planes and helicopters. The total volume of the new military aid program should be 300 million dollars.

Earlier, the American newspaper The New York Times wrote that the window that allows Ukraine to confront Russia cannot remain open indefinitely. As the newspaper notes, without some success, Western support for Ukraine will be weakened and Kyiv may be forced to enter into serious negotiations to end or freeze the conflict.
