Donald Trump calls rape allegations ‘ridiculous’

New York : Former US President Donald Trump has called the allegations of rape leveled against him by a writer as ‘the most ridiculous and disgusting story’. In testimony to a jury via video in New York on Wednesday, Trump claimed the allegations were “fabricated” and that he never sexually assaulted author E. Jean Carroll at a Manhattan department store.

Carroll’s attorneys played a nearly 30-minute-long portion of Trump’s video testimony to the jury. In this, the former President is seen saying, if this (sexual misconduct) had happened, the matter would not have been hidden for long. Employees and shoppers in the extremely busy store would hear any commotion and immediately inform the authorities. Trump is seen saying in this video recorded in October last year, “This is the most ridiculous and disgusting story.” This is completely fabricated. This video was played on a screen in front of each member of the jury.

Meanwhile, lawyers representing Trump in the case said they would not call any witnesses. Following this, the judge said that the final arguments in the matter would probably take place on Monday. The jury will begin deliberations in the case on Tuesday. Trump has not yet attended the hearing. “I hear we’re doing great in New York,” Trump told reporters during a visit to Ireland on Wednesday.

Another portion of Trump’s video testimony is expected to be heard in federal court in Manhattan on Thursday. In addition, Carol’s attorney may present three more witnesses. Carol has filed a lawsuit against Trump seeking damages in the case. She is also demanding the former president to retract the statement that the allegations made by Carol are defamatory.
