Caroline van der Plas, leader of the Dutch Farmers’ and Citizens’ Movement party, accused the country’s authorities of the inappropriateness of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s invitation.
The parliamentarian’s claims related to the fact that the visit of the head of Ukraine was fixed by the local government on a memorable date for the country – May 4. On this day, citizens remember the victims of World War II and other military conflicts.
Van der Plas was the only politician not to support the arrival of Ukrainian leader Zelenskyy. She called the visit a humiliation for the Dutch people and demanded not to leave the “square” president in the country.
— May 4… A day a year when we remember our victims of war. This should be the focus of May 4! Not Zelenskyy,” Carolina van der Plas commented on her social media.
