He said that Khelo India centers will be set up in every district of Uttar Pradesh. Thakur said that Khelo India has completed five years just a few days ago and it has progressed with great speed.
He said, “The players have also done the work of winning medals for the country and today I can say that the third biggest event of Khelo India University Games is going to be held in Uttar Pradesh. The way Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has done the work of promoting sports here and now Uttar Pradesh has got the hosting of the Khelo India Games.
He said, “I can say that the day is not far when India will win medals in any corner of the world, Uttar Pradesh will contribute a lot in that.” A provision of Rs 3200 crore has been made so that the players do not face any kind of inconvenience and by winning medals in the Olympics, they can promote India’s name on the world stage.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that these games will prove to be a milestone in promoting sports among the youth of the state.

In the third Khelo India University Games, there will be competitions in 21 disciplines and sailing events will be there for the first time. The matches will be held in Varanasi, Noida, Gorakhpur and Lucknow. Shooting events will be held at Delhi’s Karni Singh range. Adityanath and Thakur also started the torch relay on this occasion. These four torches will travel to every district of the state before returning to Lucknow on May 25.
