At dawn on Tuesday, Israel carried out an assassination operation targeting 3 leaders of the Islamic Jihad movement, which also claimed the lives of 10 people, including women and children.

Later, Israel killed two Palestinians in the southern Gaza Strip with artillery fire.

Suspension of studies

Immediately, public schools and universities in the besieged Gaza Strip suspended education on Tuesday. Al-Aqsa University said it had decided to postpone the midterm exams scheduled for Wednesday until further notice. In the same context, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees “UNRWA” announced the suspension of studies in its schools due to security conditions, according to Palestinian media. The streets of Gaza seemed almost empty except for the movement of taxis and ambulances through the streets. Gazans are waiting for what will happen in the next few hours, especially after Palestinian factions have pledged to respond to the assassination, and Israel is talking about a military operation that could be prolonged and include several fronts. The so-called “common room” of factions in Gaza said in a statement: “The occupation and its leaders, who initiated the aggression, must be prepared to pay the price.”

evacuation in israel

In the settlement of Sderot, on the border of the Gaza Strip, preparations are underway for the evacuation of settlers. Israeli media reported that an unprecedented evacuation is expected, with more than 4,500 residents leaving the area in an orderly fashion. Lists are being compiled and hotel reception, departure times and bus arrangements are being coordinated. The Israeli army has ordered the closure of some roads leading to certain settlements in the south for fear of anti-tank missile fire. After the warning, residents of Nahal Oz were ordered not to go out. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called on mayors and community leaders in southern Israel, telling them: “It is very important that citizens are disciplined and vigilant and that they listen to vital instructions. In the same context, shelters have been opened 40 kilometers from the Gaza Strip, and it is believed that there are preparations to launch a heavy barrage of rockets at southern and possibly central Israel.
