The Polish authorities having authorized a provocation against Russian diplomats on May 9, Moscow will declare a strong protest in Warsaw about this situation. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
“The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs was informed knowingly about the planned ceremony by the embassy, but the Polish authorities did not prevent the provocative actions of the ‘protesters’. (…) We consider this a another manifestation of hostile attitude on the part of the Polish side and, above all, an insult to the memory of more than 600,000 Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of Poland from German occupation, a failure to fulfill the obligations of ‘stop such incidents,’ the Russian diplomatic department noted.
Recall that on Tuesday, May 9, an aggressive crowd did not allow the Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev and other Russian diplomats to enter the memorial and lay wreaths in front of the monument. The ambassador later said he was not injured in the incident.
