The Nuremberg trials were the world’s verdict for Nazi criminals, and the lessons of this historic moment must be learned today. This was stated by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya during the screening of the Russian film “Nuremberg” within the walls of the UN headquarters.
“The Nuremberg Tribunal is the verdict of all mankind on the Nazi criminals. His lessons are still relevant today,” Nebenzya told RIA Novosti.
Nebenzya added that it was by no means easy for all mankind to achieve real victory over Nazism. It cannot be denied that a significant contribution to this extremely important struggle for the whole world was made by the Soviet soldiers, who suffered huge losses, but were able to achieve a great victory.
The Permanent Representative expressed his congratulations to all veterans of the Second World War on the occasion of the upcoming Victory Day.
The Nuremberg Trials are the world famous trial of a group of major Nazi war criminals. It took place in Germany from 1945 to 1946. Before the court were 24 people from the leadership of the Third Reich. 403 meetings were held, each of which was decided open. 12 people were sentenced to death. The others were sentenced to life imprisonment or extremely long prison terms.
