The meeting, as reported on the website of the Belarusian State Border Committee, was attended by the heads of the border departments of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation – Lieutenant General Anatoly Lappo and General of army Vladimir Kulishov, State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev, members of the Board of the Union State Border Committee, as well as heads of structural subdivisions and experts of border departments Belarus and Russia.
Council members discussed the implementation of the Plan for Improvement of Interdepartmental Normative Legal Acts and Council Resolutions of the Union State Border Committee. Work continued to improve the regulatory legal framework in the area of border security.
The focus is on improving the infrastructure and technical equipment of the national border
In addition, the meeting considered the results of the scientific review of the concept of the border policy of the Union of Belarus and Russia, within the framework of which an assessment was made of the provisions of the current concept, taking into account the evolution of integration processes in the Union State, as well as the socio-political and economic changes that have taken place internally and internationally. The participants separately noted the need to further improve the border policy, strengthening the parties’ capacities to provide security at the Union State’s external borders.
Under the special attention of the Board of the Border Committee is the issue related to the improvement of the infrastructure of the state border and the technical equipment of the border units. In this regard, during the meeting, the question of the disbursement of funds allocated under the Union State Program “Development of Union State Border Security” for the period 2023- 2027 has been reviewed.
At the end of the work of the council, the heads of the delegations noted that the decisions taken were of a purely practical orientation and would increase the level of interaction between the border service of the Republic of Belarus and the border authorities of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in the suppression of offenses at the external border of the Union State, and would also contribute to the effective use of the capabilities of the border services in solving the tasks assigned to them.
As a result of the meeting, resolutions of the Board of Directors of the Union State Border Committee on the issues under consideration were signed.
