“The Russian authorities have received calls from citizens of both countries who have asked to make these decisions,” said presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov and noted that the calls came in particular from businessmen, cultural figures and scientists. “We are talking about decisions of a humanitarian nature,” he stressed.
Responding to the question of whether the Kremlin expected a critical reaction from local politicians, Peskov noted that the reaction was different. “It was both negative and restrained,” he said. The Kremlin spokesman also advised not to “go too far” when commenting on the prospects of resuming diplomatic relations with Georgia.
Recall that yesterday Vladimir Putin canceled the visa regime for Georgian citizens from May 15, 2023.
