Kolkata (Kolkata. In the 56th match of Indian Premier League- IPL 2023, Rajasthan Royals (Rajasthan Royals- RR) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by nine wickets with 41 balls to spare. The hero of Rajasthan’s victory was young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored an unbeaten inning of 98 runs.

Chasing the target of 150 runs by Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals got off to a tremendous start. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal hit 26 runs in the very first over. However, Jos Buttler (0) was run out in the next over due to lack of coordination. After this, Captain Sanju Samson along with Yashasvi gave the team a 9-wicket win with 41 balls to spare. Yashasvi scored an unbeaten 98 off 47 balls with the help of 12 fours and 5 sixes while Samson remained unbeaten on 48 off 29 balls with the help of 2 fours and 5 sixes.

Earlier, Kolkata did not have a good start after losing the toss and coming out to bat. Both the openers of the team returned to the pavilion till the 5th over. Jason Roy contributed 10 and Rahmanullah Gurbaz contributed 18 runs. Both the openers were dismissed by Trent Boult. After this Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana added 48 for the third wicket. Then Rana was caught out by Yajuvendra Chahal on a personal score of 22 runs. Andre Russell, famous for hitting long hits, once again proved to be a flop and returned to the pavilion after scoring only 10 runs. Meanwhile, Venkatesh completed his Pachasa and became Chahal’s second victim by scoring 57 runs.

In the end, KKR batsmen kept getting out one after the other. Star finisher Rinku Singh also could not do anything special today and became Chahal’s third victim after scoring 16 runs. Chahal then hit Shardul Thakur for a four off his wicket. In this way the team could score 149 runs in the allotted 20 overs. For Rajasthan, Yajuvendra Chahal took four wickets and Trent Boult took two wickets while KM Asim and Sandeep Sharma got one success each.

In today’s match, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a half-century in just 13 balls. Earlier in IPL 2018, KL Rahul made Fifty off 14 balls in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. At the same time, Pat Cummins repeated this feat in 2022 off 14 balls. Cummins made a record against Mumbai Indians.
