Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko did not show up for the celebration of the Day of the Flag, Emblem and Anthem of the Republic, broadcast by the SB television channel, but his congratulations were published on the website official of the Head of State.
During the ceremony, Lukashenko’s speech was read by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.
In his congratulations, the Belarusian leader stressed the importance of state symbols for the people.
“These symbols embody the memory of generations, reflect the national identity and the difficult historical path of the people, connect the past, present and future of the Belarusian state. Our truly national flag, coat of arms and anthem are comprehensible and truthful, they guard the wisdom of the world, strengthen spiritual strength, inspire new achievements,” says Lukashenko’s congratulation.
Media noted that Alexander Lukashenko did not appear in public after the May 9 Victory Day celebrations in Moscow. Speculation spread on the network that the president’s illness was to blame. Thus, the publication Nasha Niva, citing an anonymous source “close to the Lukashenka protocol service”, reports that Lukashenka has caught the flu. In addition to the president himself, according to the publication’s source, five other people have been infected.
