On Friday, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s main rival, said his party had overwhelming evidence of Russia’s responsibility for spreading “totally false” content online ahead of Sunday’s vote.
Russia has previously been accused of interfering in other countries’ elections, including US elections, which Moscow denies.
Russian news agencies quoted Peskov as saying, “We categorically reject accusations of interference in Turkish elections. That’s out of the question.”
Reuters quoted the Russian official as saying: “We are very disappointed with the statement of the opposition in Turkey”, adding that Kilicdaroglu could not provide evidence of this interference “because it does not really exist”.
