In Turkey, as part of the counting of votes in the presidential elections on May 14, 100% of the ballot boxes were opened. The current head of state, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, won 49.35% of the vote, his main competitor, the sole opposition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroglu, received the support of 45% of voters. According to the source, 5.22% of the voters voted for the third candidate of the ATA Alliance, Sinan Ogan. Candidate Muharrem Ince, who withdrew his candidacy, obtained 0.43% of the vote. The Turkish Central Election Commission considers the votes cast in its favor to be valid.
Recall that to win in the first round of elections, one of the candidates had to obtain 50% plus one vote. The second round of voting is scheduled for May 28.
Earlier, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, addressing his supporters at a rally in Ankara from the balcony of the ruling Justice and Development Party headquarters, said that according to preliminary data he was leading the presidential elections in Turkey. The Turkish leader also accused the opposition of trying to mislead people about the voting results.
