Lukashenka appeared in public for the first time since May 9 amid rumors about his illness

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko made his first public appearance since May 9. Photo of the Belarusian leader published Telegram channel “Pool of the First”, close to its press service.

“The first is currently working at the central command post of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces. He will hear a report on the organization and fulfillment of combat duty tasks in air defense. The event starts now. Details to come soon! – wrote “Pool of the First”.

The photo shows that Lukashenka’s hand is bandaged.

Disappearance of Lukashenka

On May 9, Lukashenka was in Moscow at a military parade dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. After the parade, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leaders of six foreign states went to Alexander Garden to lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Lukashenko was taken there by car.

The President of Belarus also did not stay for breakfast with Putin and other leaders. Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Lukashenka “must leave as soon as possible” due to the events “related to Victory Day in Minsk”.

In Minsk on May 9, Lukashenka laid flowers at the Victory Square monument, but did not deliver a speech. Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin did it for him. The President of Belarus also missed the celebration of the Day of State Symbols on May 14.

Lukashenka’s hasty departure from Moscow and his absence from the public for several days sparked rumors about the politician’s illness. On May 13, Euroradio reported that the presidential motorcade arrived at a medical center near Minsk. On May 14, Belarusian opponent Pavel Latushko said that, according to his information, Lukashenka suffered from infectious allergic myocarditis.

The same day about Lukashenko’s disease declared Deputy of the State Duma Konstantin Zatulin. “There’s nothing supernatural there, it’s not covid. The man just got sick,” he said.
