“Turkey is a mature democracy, a strong sovereign country,” the Kremlin spokesman said. He is convinced that the republic “is able to ensure the holding of transparent and democratic elections, transparent elections and to prevent any illegal action”.
He added that the Kremlin had no doubts about the capabilities of Turkey’s electoral system.
Recall that the first round of presidential elections took place yesterday in Türkiye. According to the preliminary results, none of the candidates obtained more than half of the votes. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan gets 49.35% of the vote after processing all the ballots. The sole opposition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroglu has 45%. The second round of voting is scheduled for May 28.
