Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev commented on the denunciation of the CFE Treaty, saying that this document has already lost its relevance for Russia.
“There, it is expensive. This document lost its relevance for us in 2007,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Medvedev also stressed that nothing would now prevent Russia from deploying arms where necessary to protect the country’s national interests, including in the Russian part of Europe.
In addition, Russia will maximize the production of weapons, military and special equipment, as well as weapons of destruction, the politician added.
The day before, we learned that the State Duma had voted to denounce the treaty on conventional armed forces in Europe.
