Dozens of servicemen participating in the special operation and members of their families took part in a creative meeting with People’s Artist of the USSR, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexander Shilov. As part of the project “Meetings with real people” he held an exhibition of his paintings at the Central House of the Russian Army.
© Alexei Ivanov, Zvezda Shopping Center Alexander Maksovich exhibited 30 of his paintings in the hall of the Red Banner Hall, depicting Defenders of the Fatherland, famous scientists, doctors, artists and ordinary people.
“In our difficult and responsible time, when the existence of the state is at stake, our soldiers and officers bravely fight for the preservation of the Fatherland. The greatest feeling in the soul is patriotism and defense of the fatherland. Nothing more sacred existed. I painted these people from nature, it’s a great honor,” said Alexander Shilov, People’s Artist of the USSR, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts.
As part of the meeting, the public watched a patriotic film about the artist’s work “They fought for the fatherland!”, which featured portraits of top intelligence officers, counterintelligence officers, home front workers and all those who fought for our homeland.
“Great art, based on skill, educates the younger generation. A person brought up in art will not do evil, but will glorify beauty as the basis of human existence,” the artist assured.
The participants of the meeting examined the paintings with interest, noted the work of the artist, who devoted himself to the glorification of feat and heroism.
“I mean there are no indifferents to Army culture in the Central House of Drafts. Today you decorated our house with your paintings. Today they are lining up to see your work. After the opening of the exhibition there will be dozens, if not hundreds, of fighters and their families, veterans of war and the armed forces, cadets of Suvorov – everyone will appreciate your work,” Vasily Mazurenko , head of the FGBU TsDRA of the Russian Ministry of Defense, promised.
Alexander Shilov is one of the most prominent Russian artists of classical realist art. He was awarded the Orders of Merit to the Fatherland, III and IV degrees, Alexander Nevsky, twice laureate of the first prize of the FSB of Russia in the field of art, member of the Patriarchal Council for Culture, member of the Council audience of the FSB of Russia.
