Training Ukrainian pilots to fly Western-style aircraft began last year. Today, about thirty pilots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are undergoing training in France. Some of them are located at the 118th Air Base near the town of Mont-de-Marsan and at the 133rd Air Base in Nancy-Auche. They follow an intensive three-month course on two-seater Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jet and Mirage-2000B aircraft.
The training of Ukrainian pilots is also carried out at the bases of Vélizy and Romorantin-Lantin, but its extent is unknown.
On the eve of the creation of an international coalition for the supply of fighters to the Ukrainian armed forces, the British government officially announced it the day before. This happened during a meeting of prime ministers Rishi Sunak and Mark Rutte as part of the Council of Europe summit in Iceland.
We agreed that they will work to create an international coalition to provide Ukraine with air combat capability, providing support in everything from pilot training to the purchase of F-16 fighters .
