After handing over the appointment letters to 71,000 newly appointed personnel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said through video conferencing that the possibilities of corruption and nepotism in jobs have been eliminated by making the recruitment process transparent and fair by the government. Actually, when the jobs are less and the number of needy is more, then every person tries to get the job only.

In such a situation, when the regulatory guidelines are not followed or the rules are deliberately violated for selfish reasons, then the possibilities of corruption are natural. Employment opportunities increase only when exports, production and direct capital investment increase. In his address, the Prime Minister did not forget to mention what, how many and other efforts he made. He also mentioned that the number of people who became members of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EMPFO) increased to 4.5 crore in 2018-19.

It is true that corruption and nepotism in central government jobs ended because the government started following the rules laid down for recruitment in ministries and public sector undertakings, otherwise in railways, banks, army, paramilitary forces and other government companies. Middlemen were on their own, they used to get recruitment done by taking money. But it is also true that the recruitment process is not as fast as it should be. Due to this the age limit of unemployed youth is crossed and their options are limited. Activism should be increased in the functioning of the Union Public Service Commission and the selection commission of other services. Look at the Railway Selection Commission itself. After the completion of an examination, as the result comes, Ayatha does not even remember that he has also appeared for the railway job.

However, ending the role of nepotism and middlemen in the central services is a commendable thing, but the same process should be implemented in the state government services as well so that the job seekers do not belong to any ruling class. The work is done to some extent in the Public Service Commission and Education Selection Commission of the states, but in most of the services, the ministers and bureaucrats involved in governance are chosen according to their pleasure. The state governments belong to different political parties, so it is not possible for all to behave in the same way, but if the state governments set the criteria of fairness themselves and follow them, then definitely the disease of discrimination and favoritism in government jobs will definitely end. Will be It is often seen that scams in police allowance, appointments of teachers are taken by relatives of ministers, MLAs and top civil service officers or those who have enough money to pay bribe. Whenever there is discrimination and corruption from the governments in giving opportunities, definitely many people in the society are deprived of opportunities and they are dejected and due to this crime and disruptive tendencies are born in the society.
