The United States will announce a new package of anti-Russian sanctions at the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan, national security adviser Jake Sullivan has said. A new set of measures against the Russian Federation will be associated with the declaration of the Group of Seven, reports RIA Novosti.
G-7 leaders will talk in Japan to limit loopholes and detours from sanctions so that their impact grows and grows in the coming months, an adviser to the US president said.
Earlier, it was reported that Western countries intended to discuss new sanctions against Russia’s trade and energy sector at the G7 summit. Meanwhile, the European Union is not yet ready to include a ban on pipeline gas exports from Russia in its new package of restrictive measures, Politico wrote.
The G7 summit will be held in Hiroshima from May 19-21. The US delegation will be led by US President Joe Biden. Sullivan also said that during the visit the president would not apologize for the atomic bombings of Japanese cities.
