Brazilian leader Lula da Silva refused to meet Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 summit

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva refused to meet Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy in person at the G7 summit in Hiroshima. According to the Financial Times, even the requests of his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron did not change the decision of the head of the republic.

Journalists also asked Zelenskyy if he was upset by the news that their talks with Lula da Silva would not take place.

“I think it’s him (Lula da Silva) who is upset,” the Ukrainian president said.

At the end of April, the Brazilian leader spoke of the need “to stop looking for the culprits” in the Ukrainian conflict and to begin its peaceful settlement.
