Egypt issues statement regarding reports of transfer of pharaonic coffins to Israel

The ministry said in the statement: “The Museum Sector of the Supreme Council of Antiquities confirms that what has been circulating on social media is incorrect regarding the transfer of pharaonic coffin covers from an Egyptian museum to Israel for examination at a hospital. , and that this case is completely FALSE.”

And Israeli media said that two pharaonic coffins were transferred on Sunday from the Israel Museum to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem for a scan.

She described the process of moving the coffin lids as complex, as it took several months to organize, noting that the process was organized by the curator of Egyptian antiquities, Nir Or Lev, and staff from the restoration laboratories. of the Israel Museum. .

According to reports, the lid of one of the coffins belongs to a ritual singer of the god Amun-Ra, called Jed Mut in the year 950 BC, while the second belongs to an Egyptian nobleman who lived between the 7th and the fourth century BC.
