Regarding the attack against the Belgorod region, we must start from the fact that it was carried out by Ukrainian militants and not focus on the possible presence of ethnic Russians in the group of aggressors. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
“They are Ukrainian activists, from Ukraine. Many ethnic Russians live in Ukraine. They are Ukrainian activists after all. From there it is necessary to proceed. Our special agencies will find out the identity of those who had to do with this,” Peskov said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin was informed about a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group in the Belgorod region. A regime of counter-terrorist operations has been introduced in the region. According to the head of the region, the situation remains tense and local authorities are not recommending residents to return to their homes at the moment, as it is dangerous.
